Neutrogena Healthy Skin Rejuvenator
Jamie's Thoughts: I love the concept of this product, but I'm not 100% sold on it yet. YES, it will exfoliate and soften your skin. YES, it will give you increased "radiance," although it may come in the form of redness or irritation at first. YES, for the amount of puffs you get and the battery life, it's worth the money. As for wrinkles, I only saw minimal reduction - my deepest wrinkles are my three furrow lines in my forehead, and they didn't improve much at all. While I applaud Neutrogena for having continued their reputation of using quality soaps, fibers, etc. when developing this product, I still think it would be far too much exfoliation for anyone with chronic redness, rosacea, or sensitive skin. Allow me to put it another way: I have normal, non-sensitive skin and I couldn't even bring myself to use the higher vibration setting. The low setting felt like a jackhammer against my jaw, nose, and cheekbones.
All dramatics aside, this product is great - I think it could help lots of people with their skin issues, and the online consumer reviews are stellar. For those consumers whose faces can handle an occasional scrubbing, especially those who think cellular turnover would help fill in fine lines and plump up wrinkles, I would highly recommend this product as a supplement to an everyday skincare regime. For folks with touch-and-go skin, I cannot recommend this on any level.

Neutrogena Energizing Sugar Body Scrub
What They Say: "Neutrogena® Energizing Sugar Body Scrub's natural sugar crystals gently smooth away dry, dull surface skin cells to reveal a fresh glow while botanical oil pampers skin, leaving it beautifully soft and smooth. The fresh citrus scent invigorates your senses to help start the day off right.
This energizing scrub uses thick natural sugar crystals for soft yet intense exfoliation. Because sugar crystals are natural, they gradually dissolve to avoid over-exfoliation. Its botanical oil conditions skin, leaving it soft and silky-smooth, and the fresh citrus scent awakens your sleepy senses."
Jen's Experience: I love citrus-y scents, so this product practically had me at "hello", but there's more to love besides the scent. A lot of body exfoliators are rough and grainy, but this one feels soft enough to use even on my face. The sugar grains are suspended in a nice oil that leaves my skin feeling super soft hours after I leave the shower. While the price may seem high for a drugstore product, there's a lot in the little tub, and what's there is so fantastic, this product is a big winner in my book.

Neutrogena Wave
What They Say: " Transform your daily cleansing routine with new Neutrogena® Wave™, a breakthrough power cleanser that gives you the kind of soft skin that truly gets noticed.Neutrogena Wave™ is a battery-operated cleanser that's clinically proven to perform better than ordinary manual cleansers. At the click of a button, Wave's™ gentle vibrating motion massages tingly cleansing foam deep into pores to remove more dirt, oil and more make-up than ordinary cleansing. After just one use, Neutrogena Wave™ helps reveal softer, smoother skin. Best of all, Wave™ is gentle and easy enough to use every day--even in the shower."
Jen's Experience: As much as I would love to have perfect, glowing skin, I have to admit that I'm pretty lazy when it comes to taking care of it, especially when it comes to getting my face nice and squeaky clean before I hit the sheets each night. I was thrilled when the daily cleansing wipes hit the market, and fell in love with my Dove SkinVitalizer.
When I first started using the Wave, I loved the way it fit in my hand so that I have good control over the pressure that I'm using. But, there are several things that I don't particularly like. For one, after I get the little pad wet, the device gets a bit slippery, making it difficult enough to turn on that I very nearly shot it across the room more than once. The device does a reasonably good job cleaning, but I couldn't help put feel that it would have been perfect if the surface area was a little larger. I felt like I needed to go over my face pretty well with my washcloth before I started using it, and once I was done I felt like I needed another once over to remove all the extra cleanser.
Bottom line? The Neutrogena Wave required a little more work than I would have liked without making me feel like it was worth the effort.

Neutrogena Rainbath® Shower & Shave Body Wash
As a body wash, this fresh, marine-scented gel is enriched with ingredients that clean and moisturize your skin without leaving behind a heavy residue. As a shave gel, the silky lubrication helps your razor glide smoothly over your skin while soothing aloe helps prevent dryness and irritation. This clean-rinsing formula won't build up on your razor--or your skin."
Melissa Says: I can't believe I hadn't tried this before. It leaves skin wonderfully soft with a subtle fresh, clean scent. The fact that it doesn't create an oily feeling on your skin is the plus side to it not being super-moisturizing, and yet it manages to leave your skin very comfortable. It's an easy, light body cleanser.
As a shave gel, only two good pumps is plenty to provide lather on each leg. The result is a close shave that doesn't leave any redness or itchy irritation at all on my legs, which are very sensitive to shaving products.
I absolutely love this do-it-all product, and so does my skin!

Review: Neutrogena Illuminating Microderm Cleansing Pads
This uniquely-designed, dual-sided pad is clinically proven to deliver results equivalent to one professional microdermabrasion treatment after just one week of cleansing. The exfoliating side contains a rich, foaming cleanser, plus special microderm-polishers to gently sweep away dulling skin cells, revealing a smoother, softer, more radiant complexion and minimizes the appearance of fine lines. The striped, soft side contains nourishing conditioners that replenish skin, leaving it visibly brighter and silky-soft."
Jen's Experience: For all the time I spend putting on make-up in the morning, you'd think I'd be just as diligent about taking it off. But no, I'm tired when I take my face off, and tend to be a little lazy about it. Cleansing cloths and pads like this are pretty much essential for me to keep my face clean and clear.
Unfortunately, these particular pads are not the best I've ever tried. I didn't see much of a brightening effect despite their claim that using these was akin to having microdermabrasion treatments. It took both sides of the pad just to get my make-up off, so I never really felt like I was getting a really deep clean. Plus, my skin was definitely not clearer;the whole time I used these I had breakouts on my cheeks. Overall, there are other products that are far more effective (the Dove Skinvitalizer comes immediately to mind) that I would recommend above this one.

What They Say: " Neutrogena® Illuminating Whip Moisturizer SPF 20 delivers fast-absorbing, lightweight hydration while it brightens your complexion and helps safeguard skin from UV damage.
This light-as-air whip moisturizer imparts fast-absorbing, non-greasy hydration, leaving skin soft and silky. Skin-brightening minerals and optical light reflectors add incredible luminosity, so skin looks bright and radiant, even without makeup. Built-in SPF 20 guards against daily sun damage."
Jen's Experience: Of all the types of beauty products I've gotten at the drugstore, I've probably had the most luck with facial moisturizers. Yet I'm less than impressed with this one. The product had a strong perfume-y scent, which makes me suspcious that it's responsible for my current outbreak. And as far as moisture goes, I didn't find that it provided all that much. There are plenty of other great choices from the drugstore (search on facial moisturizers for more ideas), but this one is mediocre at best.

Review: Neutrogena Summer Glow Daily Moisturizer
About the body moisturizer: “Neutrogena® Summer Glow Daily Moisturizer SPF 20 with Helioplex™ technology provides a healthy-looking glow and broad spectrum UV protection just by moisturizing.
This moisturizing formula softens skin with a light fresh scent, while advanced broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection stabilized with Helioplex™ technology provides daily UV defence. With each use, it enhances skin for a light, natural glow. Used daily, your maximum depth and intensity of color will be reached after about one week.”
Alissa’s Opinion: Let me start by saying that last summer I tried every single drugstore brand of gradual tanning moisturizer. I have pale, sun-hating skin, so I am on a continual quest for the ultimate fake tan. I used Neutrogena’s formula for medium skin tones, and found that it gave me a good hint of color after two applications. The lotion absorbed quickly and didn’t leave any telltale streaks on my skin. My only complaint is the scent. It is horrible and strong, and I felt the need to apologize to my coworkers who had to smell me all day.
About the facial moisturizer: “This unique lotion not only softens and smoothes skin with ultra-light moisture, it gradually enhances the natural color of your skin so it looks healthier, more even toned and radiant. Defined with a naturally derived complex, it gradually builds just a touch of color. Your skin will look subtly warmer with a luminous glow. Broad-spectrum UVA/UVB SPF 15 sunscreens help prevent premature signs of aging caused by everyday exposure to sun's damaging rays. ”
Alissa's Opinion: This product left me wanting more. I used it for a week straight and didn’t see any sign of a glow. It worked well as a light moisturizer and I love that it has sun protection added, but it just didn’t do what it was supposed to! Oh, and it made my face smell horrible too.

Review: Neutrogena Sheer Body Tint
What They Say: "Neutrogena® Sheer Body Tint gives you a picture-perfect tan the second you realize you need one—with a new beauty "must have."
Sheer Body Tint is an instant temporary tan that you can control and correct as you apply—so you always get the perfect tan for you, instantly. Color looks natural on most skin tones and can be used all over or just where you need it. This lightweight mousse dries and sets in less than five minutes. The fixable formula washes away with soap and water to easily correct any mistakes.
4.0 oz. mousse can
Available in Light/Medium and Medium/Deep
Shake well before use. Apply mousse evenly onto clean, dry, unmoisturized skin. Reapply for darker color, wait a few seconds between applications. Apply sparingly around rough skin like elbows, knees, and ankles. Dries in less than 5 minutes so you can dress quickly. Wash hands after application. To remove color, wash skin with soap and warm water."
Melissa Says: Okay, how many of you have been wondering about this but have been too afraid to try it out? Count me as one of those who was fearful of this bottle promising big things. In fact, I really had to summon up some courage before finally breaking down and doing it, because come on - a realistic tan in mousse form? From the same people who brought me a distastrous self-tan episode many years ago? (Can we say burnt orange, anyone? Granted, this was long ago, but the memory is as vivid as the results were.)
Let me start with the positive news. The color is actually not scary. It is not orange, but a nice believable bronze. I used the Light/Medium, because frankly I was too afraid to try the Medium/Deep. That was plenty dark enough for me to get an idea and be comfortable with the color. Another plus? It does dry very quickly, so you literally can apply this almost at the last minute and get dressed quickly without worry.
This brings up a negative issue, however. The mousse actually dries SO quickly that you have to work incredibly fast to blend in the color and not have darker spots where an accumulated bit of product dries before you can rub it in. The one thing that makes this less tragic is the fact that if you catch this mistake right away, you can take a moist tissue and rub the excess off. In case you're already thinking that you're going to be SMART and apply this with gloves...let me steer you away from that before you start. I thought I was smart, too. But I soon realized that because of the texture and quick dry-time of this formula, the most efficient way to get smooth color is just by getting your hands dirty. (Yes, you will need to wash them well afterward.) The gloves skipped and grabbed as I tried to apply and just didn't work. The first time (and probably even the second or third time) you use this, you'll still be figuring out the best way to apply it and how to move in sections quickly so that you have even color. In this sense, it really isn't the easiest product to use, but it is correctable. Something else you should keep in mind is that you will probably underestimate how much the product spreads, so only spray a small amount into your hand at a time until you get the feel for the coverage. I didn't notice it come off on my clothes at all and it stayed all day, but it's not like I wore this and then went to work out and sweat, either.
Let's talk about something else I didn't like. The SCENT. When I first sprayed it, I told my husband "Ugh! It smells like...it smells like... You know what is smells like? GARBAGE BAGS!" That did nothing to ease my nerves. But I WILL say this: the scent disappears quickly and completely once it's dry. Thank God.
So, what's my final take? It's kind of hard to apply, smells a little weird at first, and is prone to uneven spots that you can touch up. But as much as I resisted the idea, I couldn't help but like the color I got at the end. So I'd say if you're willing to test it out, it just might be a noncommital, safe, and quick way to get some color this season.

Light Sesame Formula
The Sensual Moisturizer®
Experience Neutrogena Body Oil. Its light sesame formula glides on easily to moisturize dry skin. It's so sheer it vanishes into shower-damp skin leaving soft and silky, with a radiant, healthy glow. No moisturizer can touch this experience."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: Whoa. Try this. I'm not kidding, lovelies. Now, the application may be a tad tricky - but that can be worked around. And contrary to what you might think...as long as you don't use too much, your skin really won't feel greasy and slick when all is said and done, just fantastically soft. And the smell - GAH - the smell is so wonderful. A true luxury from the drugstore, of all places.
User Tips from Neutrogena: "After a shower or bath while your skin is still damp, smooth on a few drops to help seal in moisture. Then treat yourself to a few pampering minutes while your body dries naturally, or simply pat dry with a towel. In the bath, add to water and soften your skin while you bathe." *And personally, I like to douse a cotton ball with the oil and then apply it that way - less messy and easier to control the oil.

Neutrogena Build-A-Tan Gradual Sunless Tanning Solution
What They Say: "The moisturizing formula delivers just a hint of color with each application, allowing you to decide how deep and dark you want your sunless tan to be. Apply it more often for a deep, dark tan or less often for a healthy glow. Worried about messy streaks? Forget about it. This creamy lotion is clinically proven to provide natural-looking, even color that starts to develop in two to four hours. It's great for everyday use and dries in just five minutes."
Jen's Experience: I mentioned on Monday that I managed to get poison ivy on my face, and quickly got rid of it, a large part due to the Neutrogena Advanced Solutions moisturizer. Well, what I didn't mention is that I still have large swaths of it all over my body, on my legs and arms. It's red and angry and ugly and I needed to hide it. Pronto. Plus, I am going to the beach and I wanted to not unleash my casper-white body onto the world. Solution? Self-tanner, of course. It'll hide all the poison ivy and make me look less deathly, right?
There are an awful lot of self tanning products on the market, but I chose Neutrogena because I generally have very good experiences with their products. Well, this did not get off to a good start. First off, the product is the consistency of a moisturizer. It's a transparent white when you put it on, but quickly soaks into your skin and becomes clear. So the problem becomes, where have you applied it? Day one was a disaster: I forgot the insides of my arms in their entirety as well as the side of one leg. And even the rest of it was very, very streaky. So, clearly I have to "fix" it.
I applied two more applications on Day Two and Day Three. I have to say that after those two days, the color was a lot more even and my mistakes were far less obvious. The problem here was with the color. I became Oompa Loompa orange.
I decided to give it a couple more applications to see what would happen. The results were mixed. The Oompa Loompa-ness kind of went away, and that's good. But even without that orangish glow, I still didn't look natural because on my last application, apparently I left some on my hands. And two days later, it's still there.
It's been two days since I've applied it, and with the exception of my hands, it looks a lot better now than right after I applied it. Even still, I would not recommend this product. Without being able to tell where you've put it on, it's really not clear how the color is going to come out, and also the orangish days there right at the beginning were pretty bad.
Anyone else more skilled in sunless tanning tried this with better results?

Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Skin Transforming Complex Nightly Renewal Cream
What They Say: "Neutrogena® Advanced Solutions™ Skin Transforming Complex Nightly Renewal Cream delivers the ultimate combination of anti-aging ingredients to help fight the multiple signs of aging and transform skin to look beautifully healthier and younger.
This replenishing anti-oxidant formula contains a unique Micro-DA Retinol complex, with the highest concentration of pure Retinol from Neutrogena, that works with your natural nightly repair cycle to stimulate skin's surface cell renewal process while you sleep, smoothing away the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It infuses skin with essential moisture to help restore elasticity and youthful radiance. See results immediately."
Jen's Experience: I've tried expensive department store moisturizers and other drugstore moisturizers, but I have never quite found the one for me. And normally, things that contain retinol turn my skin bright pink and cause more than a little tingle. But this one, I feel, is different - and better. I started using this about 8 weeks ago. Even during the first few days of use, I didn't have any problems with redness or irritation. In the morning, my skin always seems really soft, and I can tell in the shower that it is nicely moisturized. And my skin is definitely clearer since I've started using this.
Recently, this product even helped me through another round of poison ivy. Normally, if I am lucky enough to get any on my face, the redness lasts 3 weeks. By using the Skin Transforming moisturizer at night, I could see visible improvement every morning. That's enough to tell me that it really is transforming my skin every night.
Tips: Avoid getting any in the eye area. It will cause a great deal of irritation and redness that lasts quite a while.

Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cream
What They Say: "Neutrogena Healthy Skin® Anti-Wrinkle Anti-Blemish Cream is the only anti-aging treatment that combines the #1 wrinkle fighter with the #1 blemish fighter in one easy-to-use formula.
Retinol, the purest form of Vitamin A, works deep within skin's surface where wrinkles develop. Salicylic Acid, a proven acne-fighting ingredient, penetrates deep into pores to treat blemishes and help prevent future breakouts. This light, oil-free formula glides on easily and absorbs quickly with no greasy residue.
Skin is clearer, softer and smoother. Fine lines and wrinkles are visibly reduced."
Jen's Experience: After I finished my RoC Night Cream, I wanted to try something new that was perhaps a little less harsh on my sensitive skin. I liked the fact that Neutrogena's product also contained salicylic acid, because I often apply that before I go to bed as well. Since I've started using this, I have had some minor breakouts here and there, but definitely an improvement over a standard night-time moisturizer. This has never been never harsh to my skin - no redness, no bumpiness and no flakiness at all, even when I first started using it. It soaks in pretty quickly after I apply it, but it does leave my skin feeling soft even by the morning (although, sadly, not as soft as the RoC Deep Wrinkle Moisturizer). The only thing I can't really comment about too much is the wrinkle-fighting aspect of this moisturizer. My fine lines are around my eyes, and I use a different product there. All in all, I've been really happy with this moisturizer, and I would recommend it to anyone who is worried about both wrinkles and acne.

Neutrogena Advanced Solutions Facial Peel
One day a week I try to undo all the damage I've inflicted on my skin and my hair by bombarding them with layer upon layer of the products I'm currently testing. On my detox day, I don't usually wear any make-up, and I use all the deep cleaning products that I can't use on a daily basis. One product that I've added to the detox line up is Neutrogena's Advanced Solutions Facial Peel, and it's one of my favorite beauty treatments of the week. I first heard about it in a magazine article discussing at-home peel treatments. This was the top recommendation for sensitive skin, so I had to give it a try!

What They Say: "Now get the dramatic results of a professional-level facial peel at home. In just ten minutes, see fresher, more youthfully radiant skin. This one-step Facial Peel formulated with breakthrough CelluZymeTM gently lifts away dry, damaged surface skin cells to reveal a new texture, tone, and clarity while reducing the appearance of fine lines."
Jen's Experience: This product makes me feel like I'm in a spa. I like to put it on while I am lounging in a nice warm bath after I've thoroughly cleaned my face. The texture is like a very fine exfoliator, but once it is applied, it dries more like a mask. It tingles when you first put it on, but as it dries, the tingling largely goes away. After 10 minutes, you remove it using your fingertips. It smells absolutely wonderful, so the 10 minutes of waiting is absolutely blissful to me. I was a little worried that it would irritate my skin since it did have such a nice fragrance, but that has definitely not been the case. I am not sure that this peel is fully responsible, but I have definitely seen an improvement in my skin since I've been using it. I have fewer breakouts and much less redness and irritation.
Tips: If you have very sensitive skin and you're currently using a retinol-based moisturizer at night, you will want to stop using your moisturizer a few days before using this peel, or discontinue use of your retinol-based moisturizer altogether.

Neutrogena Radiance Boost Eye Cream

From Neutrogena: "Neutrogena® Radiance Boost® Eye Cream reduces the appearance of dark circles and puffiness around your eyes for a fresh, vibrant look.
This ophthalmologist-tested formula contains PROTIENT™, a powerful anti-oxidant that works immediately to help alleviate puffiness and help fade undereye dark circles. It also significantly reduces the appearance of fine lines, soothing and moisturizing the overall eye area. This luxurious, lightweight cream is suitable for contact lens wearers.
Revitalize the appearance of your eyes and brighten your look in just one week."
My Experience: I am always looking for products to cover up my dark under-eye circles, but I had long given up on getting rid of the circles themselves. I'd tried expensive creams and miracle Vitamin K solutions, all of which didn't solve the problem or caused irritation that probably worsened the problem. When I saw this product from Neutrogena that claimed that it would improve my under eyes in less than 28 days, I had to try it, and I am really glad that I did. Within one week I saw a drastic improvement in the coloring under my eyes, and after three weeks, if I got enough sleep I could actually skip concealer and use foundation instead. That's pretty miraculous considering I've been wearing concealer daily for probably 10 years. It didn't really do anything for the fine lines around my eyes, but I didn't really buy it for that either. I'll let my night moisturizer take care of that.
Tips: The tube recommends using the cream twice daily, which I did for the inital 28 days. I have switched to using it in the mornings only underneath my makeup and I haven't seen any degradation in effectiveness.

I Will Wash My Face Before I Go To Bed: Neutrogena Clear Pore Cleanser/Mask
I was reading an interview with Rachel Bilson from "The O.C." in the January issue of InStyle Magazine, where she said:
"When I was growing up I would never wash my face. It really stressed my Mom out. I had this theory for some reason that dirt kept pimples away; then once I started to wash my face, I broke out. I was like, See, Mom? I should've just stayed dirty."
I couldn't believe what I was reading. I held firm in that very theory throughout my high school and college years, and frankly, I still think there might be some truth in it.
Deep down I think she hit the nail on the head when she said her skin is sensitive and so most cleaners will cause her to break out. That's pretty much the story of my life.
Since I've been trying out so many new products, I am prone to a lot more sensitive skin breakouts. Still, I have to wash my face because I am wearing a lot of makeup these days.
I picked out Neutrogena's Clear Pore Cleaner/Mask because I foolishly thought that I was breaking out here and there. Really, I think my skin was reacting to all the new stuff I was throwing at it. Then, when I started using this cleaner, just like Rachel experienced, my skin really started breaking out like mad.
Now that everything is back under control, I won't be going back to using such a harsh product on my poor skin anymore. However, I do still like the mask aspect. Put it on for 5 minutes and it feels cool and tingly. When you take it off it feels like your skin can really breathe again. I find that using it once a week does not cause me to break out and does a terrific job of keeping away blackheads.
So there are two lessons here: If you break out, make sure that it is really acne before you start applying harsh stuff to your face (this stuff actually bleached one of my washcloths). And if you have sensitive skin, this might not be the skin care solution for you.
I am going to keep searching for a great cleaner for sensitive skin so that I can stick with this resolution with a clean, clear face.

Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation Compact
What They Say: "As the first purified mineral makeup in a compact, new Neutrogena® Mineral Sheers ™ Powder Foundation enhances your skin through dermatologist-selected pure and gentle minerals. This convenient pressed powder foundation creates a naturally radiant and glowing complexion.
Featuring exclusive time-released antioxidants and SPF 20, new Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation formula delivers extra soft and blendable pressed minerals, so you can build your desired coverage from sheer to medium without a heavy make-up look or feel. And, it's great for mess-free, easy touch-ups.
- Dermatologist tested, non-comodogenic
- Oil-free and fragrance-free
- Good for sensitive skin
- .34 oz. compact includes applicator and mirror
- Available in 8 Shades"
Melissa Says: Having tried some of Neutrogena's mineral sheer powder products that were in brush dispenser form (the blush, for example), I was curious to see how this compact foundation would fare. The mineral foundations that I've really liked in the past are all in loose powder formula, so I wanted to see how this stood up.
I use the lightest shade, Classic Ivory, though I think I might have been good to go up one shade (and maybe two in summer months). You can check out the shades available here. I use a light hand when applying with the included sponge applicator (this is important so you can build gradually where needed and not look too powdery), and it softly blends over my skin. Any trace of a powder-like look quickly melts into the skin and ends up looking pretty natural (again, minding that you don't over-apply).
I wouldn't recommend this for someone with very dry skin, but if you have combo-to-oily skin this is an option, and it gives light-to-medium coverage. It's not as "untraceable" as some higher-end mineral powder foundations can be, and ideally I'd like it to be more pore-minimizing, but at an affordable price this may work for you.

Jen's Experience: I've been spoiled recently by all the great glosses from M.A.C. that I've been testing. But despite that, I've had a pretty good experience testing these new lip balms from Neutrogena. I think the colors, which, although sheer, produce enough color to stand on their own. I disagree, though, with the whole moisturizing element to the product. I have had an ongoing bout with chapped lips these last few weeks, and not only have these balms not helped, they seem to make the problem a little worse. The colors are pretty and very wearable, though, so unless your lips are parched like mine, these aren't a bad choice.

Melissa Says: Oh, boy...here we go. Let's start with a positive note - the color of this blush (I tried a few different shades) is pretty and sheer and lasts nicely...after you've panicked and tried to wipe the blotch of pigment that swipes onto your face directly out of the brush the first several times. When you shake the brush to get the blush into it, it all comes out in a dot in the middle of it (and all over your counter or clothing - here's a tip: keep the cap ON when you shake it).
When I first applied the blush to my cheeks, something a friend had told me about her experience with the product came true for me as well. I was definitely not impressed with the strong amount that went onto my skin (and unevenly at that), because of the unbalanced dispersion of the product on the brush. Also, blush flew all over my bathroom counter and I was very glad I was staying home that day and was in a t-shirt instead of nice work clothes. Okay, lesson learned. From that time on, I only shook the brush a little bit and kept the cap on to catch the loose pigment. I still had some problems with getting the right amount on my cheeks, though, and kept having to reach for a tissue to dab off excess.
What I realized a few times later was that I only needed to shake lightly once or twice, because some pigment always remains in the brush from the time prior. This made the shade much prettier and more wearable.
In the end, it can look very pretty...but I really don't think it's all that convenient if you have to work so hard to get it to not mess up your clothes and not make you look like a baby doll. This had promise, but for me fell short. This blush in different packaging would definitely be something to try.

Review: Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation
What They Say: "Neutrogena Mineral Sheers® Powder Foundation is pure and gentle and goes on easily for a healthy, natural look.
Neutrogena Mineral Sheers® powder foundation is made of dermatologist-selected minerals that go on effortlessly to feel weightless on your skin. The mineral formula has a soft powdery texture and offers a more natural radiant look vs. the more flat, matte look and feel of many traditional cosmetics.
Get beautiful, natural-looking coverage that builds to the level you desire with more strokes of the brush."
Jen's Experience: I've been seeing this in all the drugstores and in magazines, so I just had to try this out. I may be at a bit of a disadvantage, though, since I haven't tried any other mineral powder foundations like Bare Escentuals, so I can't give you a side by side comparison. That said, I love the soft brush that comes with it, and I love how it just melts into my face. I have trouble seeing where I've applied it. I brush it all over my face three or four times, and by that point, I've got enough coverage to see what I'm doing.
My face looks a lot more radiant after I've applied it, but I really wish it did more to hide my larger pores around my nose and uneven skin tone. What I've been doing to counter that -- and this may be cheating -- is to use a foundation primer underneath. And when I do that, the coverage and radiance from this powder foundation is really fantastic. But that sort of defeats the purpose of having a lightweight powder foundation in the first place.
I'm ambivalent as to whether or not this product is right for me. I'd love to hear from our readers on this one. Do you like it? Is there anything you do to increase the coverage or do you use it alone?

Drugstore Favorites Week Review: Neutrogena MoistureShine Lip Soothers
What They Say: "Neutrogena MoistureShine® Lip Soother provides instant, soothing relief on contact with beautiful high gloss shine and SPF 20.
Neutrogena MoistureShine® Lip Soother hydrates, soothes and protects dry lips on contact with beautiful high-gloss shine. The unique hydragel formula contains conditioning botanicals and glycerin for intense moisturization. Carry this pocket-portable gloss with you for use whenever you want hydrated, beautiful lips. Available in 6 glistening shades: Glaze, Sheen, Glisten, Shine, Gleam and Shimmer."
Jen's Experience: This is my new addiction. Since the moment I walked out of the drugstore with this product, I've been carrying it around faithfully in my purse, applying it rather frequently. Despite the overly fruity taste (what is with the Mango flavor obsession lately?), I absolutely love the tingly feeling it gives my lips. It does help to moisturize my lips somewhat, but it's definitely more of a gloss than a lip balm. Some might not like how thick it is, but since it isn't sticky, I am okay with it being a little on the gloppy side. The color I am using is "Gleam". I generally wear it alone, although it does look good over a rose-colored lip pencil as well. So, if you're looking for a pretty gloss with a terrific tingle to carry around in your purse, I think this is a great choice.

Melissa's DeLush Downlow: What sounds better than pretty buffed-looking nails instantly? Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. And in fact, your nails DO look pretty great after applying this gel. And it does dry practically as soon as it's applied. It doesn't have a strong odor, either. But here's what I don't like: By the next day (or even the end of that same day if you've done a lot), it starts to come off a bit and look peel-y and not so cute. You pretty much have to re-apply whenever this happens, or be prepared to take it off then. For me, it's a good quick-fix for finished-looking nails, but you can get the same effect that lasts longer with quick-drying buff or clear polish. Bottom line? Good for a quick-fix if you are prepared to apply every day, but not a must-have.
