DeLush Drugstore Favorites Week: Jergens Soft Shimmer Lotion

What They Say: "Glistening is in this season and it’s back on the catwalks with a vengeance. This is a trend that's going platinum and you can expect to see flecks of gold glitter gloriously on many diverse materials, including your skin with Jergens® Soft Shimmer® Moisturizer. And a real silver lining to this season is designer Cat Swanson, who illuminated the runway with a collection that proves SKIN IS IN."

Jen's Experience:  A friend of mine let me borrow her bottle of Soft Shimmer moisturizer and I loved it so much, she let me take it home with me so that I could do a proper review.  I am so lazy, it's hard for me to get in the habit of putting moisturizer on every day.  It's all I can do to remember to put it on when I wear a skirt.  But ever since Jergen's moisturizer made its way to my cabinet, I have been wearing more skirts and a lot more moisturizer!  The texture of the moisturizer is generally very similar to a normal Jergen's moisturizer, but it smells fresh and clean, and the little bit of shimmer in the lotion makes my legs look radiant.  Even if I don't spread it out well, the glitter effect is very subtle; I even wear it to work!  This is my new favorite moisturizer.  I hope my friend doesn't want her bottle back!

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer

What They Say: "Get a healthy summer glow all year long just by moisturizing. Formulated with essential moisturizers and Erythrulose and DHA to gradually develop a soft natural tone and delicate shimmer, without any streaking or orange coloration you'd find in a self tanner. Noticeable change in skin color of up to one full shade in about one week with regular use. Ideal for fair to medium skin tones."

Melissa's DeLush Downlow:
I have become phobic of ALL lotion/spray/gel tanners over the last few years. And not because the formulas haven't improved and that some don't look pretty great. For me, it's all about the Slacker Factor. I hate the exfoliating. I really hate the reaching. And I hate the surprise dark patches. That's why I'm a huge fan of the wet towelettes (i.e., TanTowel). They were MADE for people like me. So I've stayed away from anything more involved than that for a very long time. Until now.

The thought of a barely-there tanning agent that I don't have to think of as anything other than moisturizer was intriguing. Part of it was mental, I'll admit. I mean, think of it as a moisturizer and all of the sudden it doesn't seem so scary, does it? So I gave this a shot.

The one I got was for fair skin tones. Because, hello, I'm pale. Have we met? So what I'm about to say is specific to that shade for me. The lotion is white, and has a pleasant smell. I just took their word for it and slathered it on without worrying. I did make sure to wash my hands well afterward. After letting it dry a bit I'd get dressed and go on with my day. After 2-3 uses you can definitely see something happening, and after about 5-6 uses you're pretty much there with the whole glowy thing. And guess what? No patches, no unevenness, no orange nails. Since I have no desire to look like I came from a month in Hawaii, this works just perfectly for me. A nice glow that takes away the winter white blahs.

Retail Price: $5.79 (I know, right?) (Drugstores and others everywhere)
