Review: Gillette Venus Breeze

venusbreeze.jpgWhat They Say: "Venus Breeze is the latest shaving innovation from the number one female shaving brand that is used by more than 40 million women around the world. Enhanced with rich body butters and a fresh tropical scent, the new Venus Breeze shaving system eliminates the need for shaving cream or soap. Simply wetting the razor activates the Shave Gel Bars for a light lather and smooth glide. The razor also has an enhanced gripping surface for
outstanding control and easy handling."

Melissa Says: I must admit, I was afraid to try this. I've used the original Venus (several years ago) and thought it nicked my skin way too much. This one started out promising - smooth feel initially with the attached gel tabs surrounding the razor blades, and what appeared to be a close shave. Later, some little areas stung as I noticed some catching on the skin, though no cuts or visible nicks resulted. I also realized that some spots needed to be re-done, because once the gel, which toward the end started to have a bit of a gooey texture, was rinsed away, my skin didn't feel quite as smooth as I'd originally thought. After the bath, my legs felt a little conditioned, but I could notice quite a few little areas where I didn't have a clean shave.

Overall, not the very best razor I've tried, and I find it hard to imagine the gel tabs lasting over three shaves. I'm still conviced that the men's brand razor I use works best.

Retail Price: $10.99 (in drugstores and superstores)
