Review: Aveeno® Positively Smooth Shower & Shave Cream
What They Say: "This 2-in-1 moisturizing shower and shave cream goes beyond cleansing to help minimize the feel and appearance of hair. You have that just-shaved feeling longer. This creamy cleanser, specially formulated with skin silkening Natural Soy, softens and conditions hair and helps you shave less often. This special moisturizing formula provides a rich lather to gently cleanse and helps protect against nicks and cuts from shaving. The result is softer, smoother, healthier skin for longer."- Helps you shave less often
- Helps prevent nicks and cuts
- With natural soy
- Dermatologist recommend
Apply directly onto hand, wash cloth or pouf. Work into lather and apply to wet skin. Gently cleanse or shave where needed and rinse clean.
What Lisa Says: I found this to be a great addition to my shower. The creamy feel and fresh clean fragrance (with a hint of citrus) was very refreshing. The lather is rich but not super sudsy which I like. While I didn't really find that I shaved any less often or that the hair on my legs was any softer, I did find that my skin was not only smooth and silky as promised, but that it stayed so longer than usual. I also experienced fewer nicks and ingrown hairs. Add all this to the fact that I'm in favor of anything that helps to eliminate an extra bottle or two in the shower and this 2-in-1 product is a great inexpensive way to feel super smooth. For the price and performance I couldn't be happier.

Review: Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser
What They Say: "This instant foaming cleanser with moisture-rich soy extracts and a blemish-fighting ingredient, helps improve skin's tone and texture and clears up blemishes without over drying, leaving skin soft, smooth and even-looking. This mild formula won't clog pores and is gentle enough for everyday use."Alissa's Opinion: This cleanser has a lot of great qualities. It's free of oily residue and fragrance, the foam is easy to use, and the 0.5% salicylic acid keeps my skin clear with everyday use. Unfortunately, the pump dispenser was not easy to use. The bottle is so thin that it tips if you try to use it with one hand. And after a few days, the pump became so sticky that it jammed in the down position whenever I pushed it. It was still useable, but very awkward.

Aveeno Moisturizing Bar for Dry Skin
What They Say: Aveeno Moisturizing Bar for Dry Skin is a unique soap-free cleanser that combines a special form of silky smooth oatmeal with skin softening moisturizers. The natural oatmeal works to absorb dirt and oil then gently rinses away. Rich emollients moisturize dry, sensitive skin. Aveeno Moisturizing Bar looks and feels different because it contains a high level of oatmeal to leave skin feeling soft and smooth. Aveeno Moisturizing Bar is fragrance free and dye free.
Toya’s Take: I have very positive associations to oatmeal. 1) I love eating oatmeal. Oatmeal is yummy. I am a lover of hot cereals. 2) When I had chicken pox at age 15, nothing was more soothing than sitting in an Aveeno oatmeal bath. 3) I am loving a Trader Joe’s honey and oatmeal soap that I’ve been using recently. Can I get a “Yay!” for the oatmeal???
This bar is described as a facial cleansing bar when you read the packaging, which struck me as a bit odd – I thought it was to be used on the body, but no matter. The instructions say to wash with the bar, so I was a bit confused. Should I lather my hands or should I literally wash my face with the bar? Well, I’ve used bar cleansers before and just proceeded to lather up my hands and use it that way, which I guess was fine. Immediately, I could feel the grittiness – it wasn’t unpleasant by any means, but you could tell that it’s meant to be exfoliating, which I think is great. Also, though it’s described as fragrance and dye free, keep in mind that it isn’t scent free – there’s a distinct oatmeal-y scent from the bar, which I found pleasant, but others may not.
This cleansing bar is supposed to leave the skin feeling “soft and smooth”, but I didn’t find that. My face didn’t feel much different all (maybe it’s already soft and smooth?). However, I’m not sure I’ll continue to wash my face with this bar, as I have oily facial skin and I don’t want to exacerbate my oiliness. All in all, my skin felt fine afterward – not elaborately moisturized or anything, but certainly not dry or flaky.

Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion
What They Say: "This patented Triple Oat formula with shea butter extract relieves and soothes itchy, extra dry skin, and is clinically proven to moisturize for 24 hours."
Jamie’s Thoughts: Let me begin by saying that this lotion does exactly what Aveeno claims: it’s gentle, it lasts 24 hours, and it relieves my itchy, extra dry skin. While it may be right for some folks, my own experience could have been better. During the winter months in particular, I have patches of itchy, dry skin on the back of my arms, my calves, and my shoulder blades. This product provided a really nice solution for that – no more tight, uncomfortable skin in those areas!
I also put it on my more normally balanced areas – my legs, my hands, etc. Not so successful there, I’m afraid. After 5 hours, I still felt mildly slimy – as if the lotion had simply been “too much.” Also, I can’t agree with Aveeno’s claim that the lotion is “fragrance free.” When you first apply it, there is a definite plastic smell – like the time I put my banana clip in the Easy Bake Oven. Waxy and very distinct, like a really old tube of lipstick. Fortunately, the smell fades.
Overall? Great solution for problem areas, but I don’t recommend it for full body moisture unless your entire body is troubled and dry. Use with caution.

Review: Aveeno Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser
What They Say: "With naturally calming feverfew, a natural ingredient related to chamomile, this light foaming cleanser helps visibly reduce redness and calm dry, irritated or sensitive skin while gently cleansing. It lifts away dirt, oil, and make-up without over-drying or aggravating even very sensitive skin. This cleanser is gentle enough to use every day.
Additional Product Benefits Include: fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic, soap-free"
Jen's Experience: I've been really interested in trying the ultra-calming line from Aveeno because of my sensitive skin (especially in the winter) and this facial cleanser did not disappoint. I'm not really sure why the cleanser is foaming rather than just a cream, but the soft bubbles really did make me feel like I was pampering my face. It actually reminded me of the other foaming cleanser that I've tried, the Freeze 24/7 Daily Detoxifying Cleanser, but for a whole lot less money. I didn't see any dramatic improvements to my face in terms of sensitivity or breakouts, but it did a great job cleaning my face. In all, a good choice for those with sensitive skin, especially for the price.

Review: Aveeno Stress Relief Body Wash
What They Say: "This soothing body wash helps to calm and relax you in the shower while cleansing and moisturizing, so your skin feels soft and smooth all day long. This unique formula combines natural colloidal oatmeal — long known for its skin-soothing benefits — with lavender and essential chamomile and ylang-ylang oils, which are known for their calming benefits. The creamy body wash gently lathers to cleanse, hydrate and soothe dry skin, leaving skin softer and smoother all day long. And, it's even gentle enough for sensitive skin.
Additional Product Benefits Include: lightly fragranced, soap free, dye free."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: This is, simply put, a fabulous body wash. Add in the bonus of the low price and availability, and you really can't go wrong. The formula suds up incredibly soft, smells SO nice (not a "perfumey" lavender scent, but instead very subtle and soothing) and leaves skin softly conditioned.

Aveeno Positively Radiant Anti-Wrinkle Cream
What They Say: "This anti-wrinkle cream is clinically proven to visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles and even out tone and texture for youthful, naturally radiant skin. This non-greasy formula contains a unique blend of naturally active ingredients — a Total Soy Complex to visibly reduce fine lines and wrinkles and even out tone and texture combined with Vitamins B5 and E to enhance skin's natural renewal process. For best results, use at night in conjunction with POSITIVELY RADIANT™ Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15 during the day or use twice per day."
Jen's Experience: I've been having really good luck with drugstore moisturizers for a while now, so I thought I would try to extend my good fortune and try for one more reasonably priced, yet effective moisturizers. This was kind of a departure from my usual picks though since it doesn't say sensitive or dry skin anywhere on the package.
Since it's still warm and humid outside, I can get away with that. My skin hasn't been excessively dry since I've started using this, but I definitely can tell the difference between this and deeper moisturizers like I've used in the past. This is just enough to keep my skin from getting scaly.
I like that it has virtually no scent and that it absorbs quickly, without leaving my skin greasy in the least. It doesn't leave a residue on my face that I feel like I need to wash off when I wake in the morning like some of the retinol-based moisturizers do.
I don't know that it has made my face particularly more radiant. Or that it's preventing wrinkles from popping up. There's nothing terribly extraordinary about this product. It's just a basic moisturizer for normal skin. But if that's all you need, hey, the price is right!

Aveeno Skin Brightening Daily Scrub
What They Say: "This daily facial scrub helps improve skin tone, texture and clarity to reveal brighter, more radiant skin. This unique formula combines natural soy extracts with smooth, round microbeads to gently exfoliate while you cleanse, leaving skin soft, smooth and even-looking. Good for everyday use and gentle enough for sensitive skin.
Additional Product Benefits Include: soap-free, oil-free, hypoallergenic, noncomedogenic."
Jen's Experience: I got this product because I wanted something gentle on my face but that would help to strip away my dry skin and give me a little glow. The first few days that I used it, I my skin had been traumatized (more about that in the next couple of days) and was very, very dry. I found this scrub to be almost painful on my delicate skin -- it stung and made my skin even drier. I had to stop using it for a few days to give my skin a chance to recover. I went back to it about a week later, and I am glad that I gave it another chance. Now that my skin has recovered, I feel like this cleans my face really well without being terribly harsh and without causing any breakouts. I use it nearly every day now without any problems at all.
Tips: As far as exfoliators for sensitive skin go, this is the best I've tried, but if your skin is really inflamed, this is not the product for you. Also, I rush to put on moisturizer immediately after I use this, since I feel like it does dry out my face.

Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Cream
What They Say: "Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Cream has been clinically proven to provide long-lasting moisturization to relieve dry, flaky, itchy, cracked skin. This breakthrough, patented formula with natural colloidal oatmeal, cocoa and shea butters, and cooling menthol provides intense moisture to help heal and protect itchy, extra dry, chapped skin. This rich cream provides a non-greasy, protective barrier to help cracked skin and prevent future dryness- leaving skin moisturized for 24 hours so that skin feels softer and smoother all day long."
Jen's Experience: I got this moisturizer right about the time that the air was getting crisp, and since then, I've made plenty use of it. I really like the way it feels on my skin, and I love that I can put it on at night and wake up in the morning and my skin feels like I just applied it (and it doesn't make the sheets all greasy). It doesn't drink in the moisture like a lot of products do. Another benefit of this cream is that it soothes irritated skin so that any patches of red, itchy skin are calmer and no longer inflamed.
Tips: Another great use for this moisturizer is to use it for extra intense moisture for your face if you have dry or irritated skin there as well. If I'm just laying around the house one day on a weekend, I will slather it on and it really makes my face feel nice.

Review: Aveeno Essential Moisture Lip Conditioner with SPF 15
What They Say: "This unique lip treatment provides essential long-lasting moisturization to help condition and protect dry, chapped lips. With an exclusive combination of natural oatmeal and natural skin conditioners, including jojoba oil and shea butter, it restores moisture and locks it in long after applying. It contains UVA/UVB sunscreens to protect lips from the sun and is good for daily use."
Melissa's DeLush Downlow: What can I say? It's getting colder and my lips are telling me they want to hibernate in lots of lip balms, so I keep finding myself pulled toward them. Some are better than others, some are mostly cute packaging with little benefit. This is fortunately one of the former of the two. This is not a fun, tasty treat for lips (which they say actually causes you to lick your lips more anyway, creating more chapping), but instead is a super-comforting, soft and long-lasting source of lip relief. This is a frontrunner in my balm rotation - it feels amazing and keeps lips moisturized for a really long time. Stock up for winter!

Aveeno Positively Radiant Lip Enhancer
What They Say: "This unique moisturizing lip treatment is clinically shown to improve the shape and contour of lips, provide a hint of extra fullness, and smooth out fine lines. It combines an innovative peptide technology derived from natural ingredients with moisture-rich soy to visibly improve the tone, texture, and definition of lips. This moisture-rich formula glides on smooth with a non-waxy feel and provides a subtle shine to bring out your lips' natural radiance. "
Jen's Experience: Sounds great, right? A lip balm with some added benefits? If only it worked as well as it's described.
I found this in the bargain bin at Target (a bad sign, I guess) and took it home and started using it that very day. My first impression is that the balm was very stiff (perhaps even waxy) and it was difficult to spread it on my lips. The more I use it, the more that aspect of it has improved. Sadly, the other benefits of it have not really come to fruition. Yes, it does give a subtle nice shine (as well as a little bit of extra pink color), but I've not seen where it really helps to smooth out any fine lines or gives my lips any definition. And when I wear it to bed, I find my lips are extremely chapped in the morning and peeling for the entire day, not at all what I would expect from a product that claims to be moisture-rich.
Next time you see this product hanging out in the bargain bin, I'd advise you to keep it there.
